Term 4 Week 10
Principal's Pen - Rachel Cutajar
Dear Bellevue Family and Friends,
The past three years as Principal of Bellevue Park State School has been filled with joy, learning and much new infrastructure! The schools Strategic plan 2018-2021 (which runs for four years and is re-established after each School Review) highlighted a vision I was able to complete with the support of all staff, students, families and community. My time here is one that not only I am immensely proud of but also one that will always sit fondly in my heart.
Bellevue is an incredible school; it is one of dedicated and passionate staff and innovative and driven practices.
No mater your portfolio in this school, there is a commitment to always share in the dynamic celebration of achievement we are known for. It is with mixed emotions I announce to my Bellevue family that I have accepted the permanent position of Principal at Merrimac State High School beginning January 2022.
Some of you may be aware that my background is in High Schools and whilst it was an immense privilege to learn and lead in the Primary sector, I am excited to be joining the Secondary School realm once more. Upon reflecting on our time together some key memories come to me; celebrating and increasing our NAPLAN success to be recognised at the second highest performing school in the Region (awesome job teachers and students), removing the old music demountable and re-establishing the Music Centre, air conditioning Block 2, Block 3, Library and Block 4 areas (with support of PnC), establishing the Stemosphere and the STEM excellence program (thanks Ms Tourish), building the ‘Snake pit” (with the assistance of Angie Bell MP and Student Council,) covering the Amphitheatre with shaded outdoor learning space, transitioning the year 5 and 6
cohort to One Note ready for Secondary (great job yr 5 and 6), implementing the formal flagpole area and Indigenous legacy project, adding formal signage and a mascot to the school, navigating all the COVID challenges and moving online (awesome job team), renovating Block 1 and 2 and Block 3 (all infrastructure credit goes to my partner in crime BM Marita), rebuilding the Basketball courts to the Block 1 oval complete with new surface and line markings 2022, implemented the Parent Education program for incoming Prep families and began the formal enrolment of Prep families to support transition, successfully obtaining Infrastructure for new Prep Village and classroom (ready in Term 2 2022) and completing the build in under Block 3 (Ready term 1) and securing our school with a formal fence line along the Benowa Netball Courts (to be completed over Christmas.) We also have been promised a new build to begin at the end of 2022 with four
new classes and a new under croft area. During this time we have experienced the highest staff morale in our schools history, making multiple staff permanent additions to our team and we achieved the highest academic performance in our schools history. We have achieved so very much together and worked tirelessly as a team to be in a space ready for a new Principal with an even bigger vision for the future of our beautiful school.
There will be an appointed Acting Principal from within our school community to support with the transition.
After term 1 the new permanent Principal will be appointed. Rest assured the team here are more than prepared and confident in delivering a smooth and exciting transition to the start of the 2022 school year.
I wish you and your families a wonderful and restful Summer Break and look forward to hearing of the continual achievements of our beautiful school.
With much thanks and more love,
Mrs Rachel Cutajar

Year 6 Graduation
What an amazing night as our Year 6 students were presented their Graduation certificates and their achievements for 2021 were celebrated. We have some very fine young people moving into their next phase of schooling and we can rest assured they progress to High School with the skills and readiness to step up as young adults. Congratulations and good luck in your future endeavours.
Semester 2 Report Cards
Report Cards will be emailed home Friday. Students should be proud of the effort they have put in to achieve their personal best. We look forward to continuing the high levels of achievement in 2022.
Step Up
On Monday Prep to year 5 students participated in Step Up. Step Up provides an opportunity for students to experience their new year level, in their new classroom and where possible with their new teacher.
Our professional team carefully form classes that are the best arrangement to support learning. Teachers have created classes that are balanced inclusive of friendship groups, academic strengths, behaviour, differentiation needs and support where all students can achieve. This is a highly consultative process developed by all key stakeholders who know the cohorts best.
Our school practice is that we do not change classes in response to parent/carer requests. Our professional team carefully form classes that are the best arrangement to support learning. Your child/ren will be well supported in 2022.
Term 4 Reflections
What a wonderful and jam-packed term we have had.
We welcomed our 2022 Prep families and children for the Prep orientation day, held the inaugural BPSS Amazing Race for World Teacher’s Day, participated in swimming lessons, swam up a storm at the 4- 6 swimming carnival, welcomed our 2022 Captains and have said farewell to the 2021 cohort of year 6 students.
We would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
