Term 4 Week 6
Principal's Pen - Rachel Cutajar
Term 4 Date claimer:
Term 4 (as always) is shaping up to be one of the busiest in the BPSS calendar with many key events taking place across the school. Of particular note the beginning of the transition process for our year 6 students moving to High School. I would urge you to please stay abreast of communication from your child’s class teacher, our school facebook page and the parent Term 4 calendar sent at the end of Term 3.
I wanted to personally thank all families in year 6 who have already cemented their student’s Secondary School for 2022. Your attention to actioning this assists your student in being identified for key events by their Secondary School and this will ease any nerves as our students step forth into the next stage of their education.
All of our Secondary Schools agree to engage with our students in week 9 so as not to interrupt final assessment procedures so please ensure your student is in attendance to the final day of term this year.
Please note that some Secondary School’s complete evening events for strict numbers and not for all students so please ensure you know what options your Secondary provider will be offering your child. Join the Secondary School newsletter and facebook to keep up with your transition options.
Book lists:
These have moved online this year and there is a discount for those people who have booked prior to 12 December. Please don’t leave this to the last minute as products can have a delay if ordered after this date. We want everyone to begin 2022 ready for learning.
PnC
We are so blessed to have a brilliant small group of PnC members who work hard to align their fundraising approaches to the school’s strategic agenda. This year, and in the future, we continue to raise money for our Shady Play initiative. If you have a business that can donate a prize or gift voucher for the PnC Raffle (tickets now available on Qkr!) please contact the school office.
Excitingly the final FUNraiser for PnC is the “Giant Inflatables Day” on Wednesday 8 December in the last week of school. Each prepaid student will have access to the inflatable area twice throughout the day. Our highest recyclers will get exclusive free access to this event but EVERY child can access this day with the purchase of a $10 ticket available on Qkr! Don’t miss out on this exciting and fun event.
Events:
We have had some brilliant days recently including Outdoor play day as well our STEM excursion and celebrated our Second Place at the Qld Academies Maths Challenge recently. The Future is certainly bright for our Bellevue students.

QAHS Interschool Maths Challenge
In Term 1, twelve of our talented Year 6 students participated in an enriching program at the QLD Academies Health and Sciences Campus, where they were supported by an expert Academy Maths teacher to extend their mathematical knowledge and skills. Last Thursday, the students were invited back to participate in the annual QLD Academies Maths Challenge to compete against other local schools. Bellevue Park came 2nd in the highly competitive field and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments. Go team Bellevue!
Recycling Heroes!
Thank you so much to all of our recycling heroes who have been bringing in their bottles for recycling. It has been all hands-on deck every even week on a Wednesday morning - we love seeing Bottle Man helping as well! This project really does make a difference, from just this week’s efforts we will make an estimated $400. The PnC are allocating all monies raised towards providing shaded play areas, which all students will benefit from. As if that isn’t incentive enough, our top recyclers will get free entry and an extra individual session on our Inflatable Playpark scheduled for the last week of the term (if we can get the teachers off it!).
Morning Routines
Just a friendly reminder that the undercover areas are not supervised until 8.30am in the mornings. Before then, the teachers are busy preparing lessons for the day. For safety reasons, please ensure that your child does not arrive to school before then, unless they are part of a supervised extracurricular activity. All other areas, including the basketball courts and the oval are out of bounds.

P-2 Outdoor Classroom Day
Last week on Thursday students from Prep to year 2 participated in Outdoor Classroom Day.
Belly Bulldog visited the prep and took part in all of the activities. The students participated in marble painting, potion mixing. parachute games, peg fairies, imaginative play, block building, pirate ship sailing, pirate hat making, cubbyhouse reading and drawing. Not only did Belly have a fun time so did every child. It was lovely to see every child engaged in an activity with a huge smile on their faces.
Thank you to the Prep team for designing a fun and enjoyable morning.
Positive Behaviour Learning
STEM@BPSS - Jada Tourish
Hi Bellevue families,
This week STEM Excellence students went on an excursion to the Spark Lab and The Queensland Museum. At the Spark Lab we explored science through hands on interactive experiments and learnt about electrical circuits, light, sound and earthquakes just to name a few. I have attached a video so you can see some of the great exhibits. The Spark Lab and the Queensland Museum in Brisbane are fantastic ways to engage children in Science and the natural world. For more information visit: https://sparklab.qm.qld.gov.au/
STEM Excellence applications are currently open and the cut off for entries is the end of week 7. I am looking forward to reading some great applications and I know it will be difficult to choose which year 4 and 5 students will be successful. Best of luck to all those applying.
Keep your eyes peeled for next newsletter where we will announce our 2022 STEM Captains and learn a little about what we will be doing in STEM next year.
Have a STEMtastic day!!

Language News
Congratulations to Tomodachi (friends) Project Team for their excellent effort in creating the second communicative video sent to our Friendship (Tomodachi) school in Tokyo, Japan. The students used the green-screen images of Australian animals and explained their habitat in Japanese. As our first video “BPSS introduction”, we are hoping to hear great responses again from Japan by the end of the school year.
