Term 4 Week 3
Principal's Pen - Rachel Cutajar
Mental Health and Wellbeing week:
Congratulations to all staff and students who participated in a variety of different opportunities to celebrate this week. Whether it be impromptu yoga on the green or thank you cards, we all took a few minutes to pay attention to our mindset. It’s a wonderful part of BPSS culture. Thank you to Mrs Hay and Mrs McNicol for their work in organising this.
Graduation
Year 6 graduation is approaching and we had to make a few changes to ensure this event is a celebration for all staff, families and students. As you would be aware, we are still under COVID safe management restrictions and as such our venues will not allow for the volume of people to attend. We will be having graduation this year offsite and further details will become available to families shortly as we move to rehearse for this. I look forward to celebrating this extraordinary group of young people later in November.
Captains
Now is the time where we call for nominations for our School captains. Parents you would have received information about this. Please pay close attention to the timelines as these are short. Successful shortlisted students will prepare a 30sec video for their peers to watch and interviews will take place shortly after, with the successful 2022 Captains hosting the 2021 Graduation ceremony. I look forward to working with our new Captains moving forward.
Welcome
This week we are hosting our 2022 prep enrolment interviews. We are certainly the school of choice in our Region with four classes of Preps ready to begin with us. Our library is abuzz with new families and their keen Preppies as our teams interview families. We are very excited that the Prep Village will be getting a long-awaited facelift in 2022 with a brand new building and playground space. Prior to this the school will undergo final renovations for Block 3. Please be aware that we start 2022 ‘under construction’ so there will be a few changes in Term 1 to the way we access buildings etc.
School Opinion Survey
Thank you to everyone who participated in our School Opinion Survey (SOS) where yet again our community told us what a fantastic job we are doing. Of note we are proud to share the following results below and importantly “This is a good school” had 96.1 parents, 95.6 students and 99.0% of Teachers indicating this.

Wellbeing Week @ BPSS
Last week we participated in activities for QLD Mental Health week. Queensland Mental Health Week (QMHW) is an annual awareness week that aims to shine a spotlight on individual and community mental health and wellbeing. At BPSS we participated in a variety of activities across the week. The rain did not dampen our spirits.
The volleyball match with teachers vs students was a popular activity. Many come to watch and participate. It was a very close game with the students winning by one point with a spike over the net. Congratulations students, we will be back to challenge you again – this time for a win!
We had many wellbeing activities take place across the week for staff and students. The mindful colouring in and thank you cards were very popular with the students. Many staff were very grateful to receive thank you cards from students across the school. It warmed many hearts. On Friday we had a picnic in the breezeway as it was too wet on the oval. Mrs Cutajar and Mrs Hay read books, played Uno, ate and chatted with students.
Prep 2022 Enrolments
This week we have begun our Prep 2022 enrolments. It has been lovely to meet our future BPSS students and their families. If your child is ready to commence Prep in 2022 and they are not already enrolled please contact the school to arrange an enrolment interview.
World Teacher’s Day Friday 29th October
World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to celebrate and thank Queensland teachers for their important role in our communities and for the positive impact they have on the lives of students. This year we Say ‘thank you’ on World Teachers’ Day!, to highlight the importance of acknowledging and showing appreciation for teachers.
Let’s join together to thank BPSS Teachers on World Teachers’ Day, Friday 29 October 2021 by giving our teachers a friendly smile and a warm thank you.
BPSS will hold our Annual Amazing Race competition where teachers battle it out to be the first team to win the race. It is always fun watching the students run after the teachers as they compete! Look out for photos and video to come on our school Facebook page.

STEM@BPSS - Jada Tourish
Hi Bellevue families,
In week 2 I had the pleasure of announcing the winners of the BPSS STEM Competition. We had over 65 students enter from Prep to Year 6 and saw some great Scienctific thinking shown. We hope that more students will be inspired by these entries and we can increase our numbers next year. A big Congratulations to Evelyn Edwards in year 5 who won the School STEM Cup and our Primary Innovations Cluster Science Competition. Evelyn went home with lots of awards, but also a brand new DASH Robot from our friends at Modern Teaching Aids.
It has been a term of awards, with ICAS certificates and our Year 6 STEM Excellence IMPACT Entrepreuneurship awards being presented. We are so proud of the high level of participation this year.
In week 5 we will open STEM Excellence applications for Years 5 and 6 and I look forward to reading the applications and hope to see many interested students apply.
To all the students getting ready to apply for leadership, please remember there are two positions for STEM Captains and I hope you will consider applying if you are in year 5 and have been involved in any of the STEM initiatives or competitions we have had this year.
Lastly, Year 5 students will have the opportunity to come to a Robotics club on Wednesdays in second break from week 5 to support the Digital technologies unit they have been completing. It is an optional club to give students the opportunity to extend their robotics knowledge. Please let your child/ren know if this is something they may be interested in.
Have a STEMtastic day!!
