Newsletter – Term 3 Week 10 2025 – Principal’s Pen
As we approach school holidays, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all our families for a happy and restful break. May you enjoy this time with family and friends, and return refreshed and ready for the new term. Please note that Term 4 commences on Tuesday 7th October 2025.
Term 3 Student-Led Conferences
We were thrilled with how many families took the opportunity this week to attend our ‘Student-Led Conferences’, to hear first-hand from your own children how they are progressing with their learning this year. There was an incredibly positive feeling in the air during the event, and lots of smiles on faces. We hope you enjoyed the chance to see your child’s classroom and hear your child explain how their learning is going. Remember our teachers are always happy to organise a time to speak with you if you have any concerns regarding your child and their progress, this never needs to wait for a parent teacher night.

Deputy Principal Prep to Year 2 News

Message from Ms Veivers
As we come to the end of another fantastic term, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the many successes we have shared as a school community.
This term has been marked by strong learning growth, strengthened partnerships with families, and a noticeable improvement in the way our students are approaching both their learning and their behaviour. The effort and commitment shown by students in striving to meet high expectations has been outstanding, and it has been wonderful to see their pride in personal achievements as well as their contributions to the positive culture of our school.
Parent engagement has been a true highlight of the term. Whether through attending school events, supporting learning at home, or being part of conversations around student progress, your involvement has played a crucial role in strengthening the connection between school and home. We know that students thrive when families and staff work together, and we are deeply grateful for the ongoing support you provide. We have also seen encouraging improvements in student behaviour. Our focus on positive behaviour expectations, combined with consistent support from staff and parents, has helped create calmer, more respectful learning environments. Students are demonstrating greater responsibility, kindness, and resilience, and this has contributed to a safer and more supportive school culture for everyone.
I would like to thank all of our staff, students, and families for the hard work, encouragement, and partnership that has made this such a rewarding term. Together, we are building a community where high expectations, respect, and care underpin everything we do.
I wish all families a safe and restful break, and I look forward to another exciting term ahead.

Deputy Principal Year 3 to Year 6 News

PBL News
Over the past few weeks year level teaching teams have looked at year level data to identify what is the most important skill to learn based on students’ behaviour over the preceding weeks. Take a look at what we have been focussing on over the past few weeks alongside celebrating students earning belly points and ‘cashing’ them in at the PBL Shop. Check in with your child to make sure they have shared their PBL Menu levelled certificate with you!

Learning Conferences
Our upcoming Student–Led Conferences provide a wonderful opportunity for students to take the lead in sharing their learning journey. Each student prepares a portfolio that highlights their progress—from the initial learning intention, through the success criteria, and right through to their final achievement. This is a special chance for families to see not only the outcomes, but also the effort, reflection, and growth behind the work.
Student–Led Conferences empower students to take ownership of their learning by showcasing their progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. This approach boosts student confidence, enhances communication skills, and fosters accountability. Parents gain valuable insights directly from their child’s perspective, creating a more personalized and engaging conference experience for everyone involved.
Year 4 Camp – Currumbin Outdoor & Environmental Centre
Last week, our Year 4 students embarked on their much-anticipated two-day, one-night camp at the Currumbin Outdoor and Environmental Centre. For some, this was their very first experience sleeping away from the comfort of their own bed—an exciting milestone in independence and resilience!
Over the course of camp, students immersed themselves in a variety of outdoor activities, including bush tucker tasting and hands-on experiences guided by Indigenous Elders. These sessions offered not only adventure but also valuable lessons about culture, respect for Country, and the importance of connecting with the natural world.
The camp was a wonderful opportunity for our students to challenge themselves, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories.
We think the photos say it all!

eSafety Years 4,5,6
Brainstorm Productions – Zanna and the Lost Code
This week our students enjoyed a powerful performance by Brainstorm Productions titled Zanna and the Lost Code. Through engaging storytelling, humour, and interactive theatre, the show explored the importance of making safe and respectful choices online.
Students followed Zanna’s journey as she discovered the impact of cyberbullying, the importance of protecting personal information, and how kindness and responsibility create a safer digital world. The performance reinforced our school’s focus on eSafety, giving students practical strategies to navigate the online environment with confidence and care.
This production was funded by the school and delivered to all students in Years 4, 5, and 6, who engage in eLearning as part of their Upper School experience. The show encouraged students to speak up and communicate with someone at home if they experience concerning or uncomfortable online interactions. Families can support their child by exploring the resources available on the eSafety Commissioner’s website, where practical advice is provided, along with the option to report unsafe online interactions directly.
Parents of Year 4–6 students are encouraged to spark a conversation with their child to learn more about the key takeaways from this beneficial and engaging performance. Some helpful questions to get started could be:
- What part of Zanna’s story stood out to you the most?
- What did you learn about staying safe online?
- Who could you talk to if something online made you feel worried or uncomfortable?
- What’s one positive choice you can make next time you’re online?

Year 5 & 6 students Preparing for High School
High School Cluster Visit – Year 6 Transition
This term, staff from Benowa, Keebra Park, and Southport State High Schools visited BPSS to connect with our Year 6 students. During the visit, they:
- Shared information about Orientation Days next term
- Answered student questions and clarified misconceptions
- Helped students identify which BPSS peers will be transitioning with them, building support networks for their new school
Students attending schools outside our local catchment also explored their chosen school’s website, discovered fellow peers, and prepared questions for their upcoming visits.
Orientation Days at our local high schools are scheduled for Week 9 next term.
Year 5 High School Experience – Preparing for Next Year
Our Year 5 students are beginning to think about the transition to high school as they move into Year 6 next year. Two excursions to Keebra Park and Benowa State High Schools will give them the chance to:
- Gain insight into high school routines and environments
- Explore similarities and differences between primary and high school
- Build confidence for Year 6 and future high school transitions
This experience is for all Year 5 students, whether they will attend a local high school or not, helping them prepare for new environments and class structures.
