Farewell and New Beginnings at Bellevue Park SS
It is with mixed emotions that we announce our beloved Deputy Principal, Mrs Sam Birch, has been appointed Principal of St Bernard Primary School at Tamborine Mountain. Mrs Birch will be leaving Bellevue Park SS at the end of this term and will begin her new role at the start of Term 3, 2025.
While we are thrilled for Mrs Birch and know she is ready to excel in this leadership position, her departure leaves a big gap—especially in our early years’ community where her warmth, vibrant personality, and memorable costumes have made a lasting impact.
We are pleased to share that Ms Regan Vievers, an experienced Deputy Principal from Ashmore State School, will be joining us as the new Deputy Principal to continue the legacy of care and enthusiasm.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs Birch on this exciting next chapter. We wish her every success in her new role and look forward to welcoming Ms Vievers soon.
We are also thrilled to send our warmest wishes to our amazing speech therapist, Portia Thomson, as she prepares to welcome her new baby! Over the past three years, Portia has made an incredible difference in the lives of so many Bellevue Park students, supporting their communication skills with patience, care, and expertise. We are truly grateful for her dedication and positive impact on our school community. We are equally excited to welcome Jackie Harbison, who will be joining us as our new speech therapist from the start of Term 3.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by all our students throughout this semester. Thank you for your continued support in their academic journey. Please look out for the report cards in your email inbox on Friday afternoon.

Deputy Principal News - Prep to Yr 2

Farewell, not goodbye!
I wanted to say a massive thank you for your incredible support and kindness over the last four years. My time at Bellevue has been so special and I will cherish my memories forever. Despite their being way too many photos of me in strange costumes, I promise I did manage to squeeze some proper work in as well! I will be back to see the children in their Performing Arts Show, which I know they have been working so hard for. Thanks again, your well wishes and kind words have been overwhelming, I will truly miss you all.

Deputy Principal News - Years 3 to 6

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) at BPSS
As part of our PBL acknowledgement system, students across the school have been striving to demonstrate our core expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner. Staff have been recognising these positive behaviours by awarding Belly Points, which students have proudly collected.
There’s been plenty of excitement as students have had the opportunity to visit the PBL Shop and redeem their points for prizes from our Gold, Diamond, and Platinum menus.
This week has been particularly busy and rewarding, as students who achieved Platinum level were invited to enjoy a range of special activities—including a celebration with the Principal, a pizza party, a VIP Disco, and even curling up to enjoy a playtime movie. What a fantastic way to celebrate their commitment to making positive choices every day!

As part of our schoolwide PBL processes, year level teachers review our behaviour data and identify areas to explicitly reteach expected behaviours. The following areas have been our PBL expectations over the past 3 weeks:

Deadly Choices Celebration at BPSS
Our Year 3 to 6 Jarjums proudly celebrated the conclusion of their engagement in the Deadly Choices program this term. Throughout the program, students enjoyed working together as a team and learning about the many ways to keep their bodies healthy—everything from nutrition and physical activity to making healthy food choices and tasting their own delicious cooking!
To recognise their participation, each student received a Deadly Choices shirt. A big thank you to KALWUN for once again partnering with BPSS to deliver this valuable program in 2025. We look forward to continuing this strong connection!

Semester 1 Celebrations:
As Semester 1 comes to a close our students from Prep to Year 6 came together to celebrate the semester. Students were able to dress in the comforts of their PJ’s and enjoy some additional play outdoors to conclude the semester.
We wish all our students and families a fabulous mid-year break and can’t wait to see you all back for Semester 2 as we set new goals and embrace new opportunities on offer.

Seasons for Growth
Learning to live with change and loss
Everyone is affected by change and loss at some time in our lives. At Bellevue Park State School, we recognise that when changes occur such as separation, divorce, death, school transitions and natural disasters children may benefit from learning the skills to manage these changes effectively. We are therefore offering an education program called Seasons for Growth which will commence in term 3.
This program is facilitated in small groups of up to 7 participants and is based on research which highlights the importance of social support and the need the practise new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on building skills such as how to manage feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication and develops peer support networks. Participation in the program can promote improved self-esteem and self-confidence as well as giving children the opportunity to find their own voice amid change.
If you think your child would enjoy joining the Seasons for Growth program, we encourage you to talk to them about it. We are pleased to be able to offer this successful program and we are confident that it will be a valuable learning experience for those involved. If you require further information please contact our school social worker, Jenna, at jmgod1@eq.edu.au.

- the Ethics approval from the University of Southern Queensland Human Research Ethics Committee.
- One flyer for parents,
