Term 3 Week 10 2021
Principal's Pen - Rachel Cutajar
Review of the Term
It certainly has been an action packed term with many event dates shifting around as a result of our earlier lockdown. As always thank you to the agile staff who make changes when needed and the supportive parents who understand these changes and the challenges we have to work through. At the heart of all we do, are our children and their experiences at school.
Congratulations to our Strings students who hosted their concert last week and to all students who competed in the Cluster Eisteddfod we filmed when the main one was cancelled. We will let you know those results when they come through. Our school disco was a great success raising over $3000 for our shaded play PnC focus and we have regularly had great success with our recycling this term also! Thanks to everyone involved.
Our Senior and Junior sports days were again a huge success and we (for the first time in two years) were actually able to compete against other schools in our Cluster sports day. Our students certainly had not forgotten their fighting spirt or their good sportsmanship and I commend everyone who attended that event. Whilst our Mini Mengineering event didn’t get off the ground (another victim to COVID changes) we were excited to host our Cluster Science event Primary Innovations. Additionally, we celebrated again improved results in ICAS with 3 Distinctions and 17 credits. This is a tremendous result for only our second year in. Finishing off the term has been the filming for our end of year dance concert that has again been reinvented as a result of multiple restrictions placed on us at HOTA. We welcome your support through the purchase of our school USB available on QkR!.
It was wonderful to see so many families be able to join us in the planning of student goals and academic progress at our Parent and Teacher Interview evening. Having this event in Term 1 and 3 allows families and teachers to plan goals to positively influence the semester report. Year 5 families please note that your Semester Two report will be the one you submit to your High Schools for your Excellence applications and general entry early Term 1 in 2022. All year 6 students are legally required to be future enrolled to their high school PRIOR to the completion of year 6. If you require support for this please contact one of our team asap.
Have a safe and joyous Spring vacation. Don’t forget school resumes TUESDAY October 5th, 2021.

Book Character Parade
Whole school events are always such a fun time, especially when dressing up is involved! The students and staff had an amazing time celebrating the wonderful world of books at our Book Character Parade. Walking through Year 2, you could have been mistaken for thinking you were entering Hogwarts!

Junior Sports Day
Last Friday was the Junior sports day. What a fantastic day was had by all!
The students came dressed in their house colours with fancy tutus, crazy hair and colourful pom poms.
The day begun with war cries which were fierce and loud. Then came tug-o-war, parachute, novelty relays, 100m sprints, Indigenous games, ball games, long jump and high jump.
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces. Students had fun participating in all of the events.
Thank you to Mr Hall for all of the wonderful activities which you had planned.

Hi Bellevue families,
What a STEMtastic term we have had at BPSS. Congratulations to all the BPSS STEM Competition entrants that were showcased at the Primary Innovations Science fair this week and to all the STEM Excellence students that helped with the evening. I was so proud to see our school showcase their fantastic work and share their knowledge with outher school students outside Bellevue. A special thank you to the STEM Excellence students who stayed to help set up and guide activities. We will hand out awards and medallions to our winners in Term 4.
In week 9 the Years 1 -4 had the opportunity to see the Street Science National Science week show, all about the Science of food. We had a fantastic time learning about nutrition and some of the future proteins we may have to eat. We loved getting to see some of the explosive experiments they had to show us.
Next term we will open STEM excellence applications for Years 5 and 6 and deliver ICAS results to the participating students. I look forward to sharing some more STEM activities with your students in Term 4.
Have a safe and happy September break.
