Principal's Pen
Thank you to our volunteers
We want to extend a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make our recent events, the Term 4 Halloween Disco and Election Day Barbecue, such a resounding success! Your dedication, time, and energy helped create unforgettable experiences for our students and their families.
Your contributions truly made these events special and we are incredibly grateful for your support, which allows us to continue offering these fun and meaningful opportunities for our school community.
Thank you once again for your generosity and spirit of volunteerism – we couldn’t have done it without you!
Uniform Reminder – Socks & Shoes
This is just a friendly reminder that our school uniform policy mandates black shoes and white socks. As the year has progressed, we are seeing an increase in black socks and random coloured shoes creeping in. Can you please make sure that you purchase the correct items ready for the 2025 school year. Wearing a school uniform correctly is an important part of our school culture and expectations.
Semester 2 Report Cards
Remember that all report cards will be emailed in week 11, so please ensure your email address is current on our files. If you have any questions or would like to check this, please see our administration staff who can check for you.
Step Up Day
In finalising this year, we are also busy preparing for 2025 to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Our Step-Up day will be on Tuesday 3rd December, where students will find out their class, classroom location and teacher for 2025.
More information about this day will follow soon. Please remember that while we will try to keep students in these classes, some minor changes may need to occur, and classes will not be finalised until Week 4 in Term 1 next year. If you feel your child may need some additional support with transitioning for any reason, please speak to your child’s current classroom teacher as soon as possible.
Deputy Principal News (Prep to Year 2)
Prep Experience Morning
This week, we welcomed 87 excited 4 and 5-year-olds to Bellevue. They were amazing, and relished the opportunity to spend some time at their new ‘big’ school.
Mathletics
Our students are going from strength to strength with Mathletics. We are needing to buy new ink for all the certificates we are printing…what a wonderful problem to have! This fun and interactive practise at home, really assists with your child’s learning progress. Thank you so much for supporting and encouraging your child to get involved.
Preps are Scientists in Motion!
Movement and change are concepts that we need to understand to make sense of the world around us. In Prep we are learning to understand how different objects can move and why they move in those ways. We started our investigations by thinking about the ways that animals (including humans) can move! We enjoyed lots of action games, sorting, reading books and play. Some classes have begun exploring 'motion' through artwork. We have starting looking at our favourite toys from home to discuss how they can move - by push, pull, roll, bounce and slide. The Prep children are working on making our own toys that move!
Year 1 Scientists Continue to Make a Mess!
Year 1 have been investigating physical and chemical reactions in science with lots of hands-on experiments to support learning and engagement. Students hypothesised prior to using their senses to observe changes in materials. It has been a lot of fun learning about chemical science!
Year 2 Writing Legends!
Our Year 2 students have been so motivated by their writing focus for this term. Their challenge is to write an alternate ending for a well-known traditional tale. The First Nations’ story about the Rainbow Serpent, was a perfect platform to get their creative juices going. To make their writing more interesting, they have been learning how to use different language features, like similes into their writing. So clever!
Year 2 Mathematicians!
During Mathematics targeting differentiated teaching time, the Year 2 students came up with their own shop and designed a poster. They created multiplication word problems to go with the products their shop was selling. Students then had a go at answering each other’s word problems. They worked so well as a team and did a fantastic job!
Deputy Principal News (Years 3 to 6)
PBL News
Over the past few weeks year level teaching teams have looked at year level data to identify what is the most important skill to learn based on students behaviour over the preceding weeks.
Take a look at what we have been focussing on over the past few weeks alongside celebrating students earning belly points and ‘cashing’ them in at the PBL Shop. Check in with your child to make sure they have shared their PBL Menu levelled certificate with you!
Deadly Choices
Our Year 3 to 6 Jarjums have been enjoying having a yarn this term with various Titan representatives and staff from KALWUN whilst also learning about ways to keep themselves healthy. Two of our students Jireh and Josiah earned themselves signed cards from David Fifita to acknowledge their engagement in the learning and activities.
Congratulations Jarjums!
Year 3 Families (YR 4 2025)
Just a reminder to our Year 3 families, that next year students entering Year 4 will require an iPad. This is a great time to shop around and secure an iPad in order to forward plan for Christmas. Please refer to the information below which has been sent out to Yr 3 families via email.
Bellevue Students - SHINE
We were delighted to receive an email advising us that two of our Year 5 students will be performing in the upcoming World Premiere production of the Snow White ballet at QPAC in January 23-26, 2025.
This is the first time BTQ's 87-year history that the company has had a brand new, original work. With this excitement we wanted to let you know of your wonderful students Eleanor Trieu & Elizabeth Trieu are taking part in this very special production.
Year 6 Transition to High School
The Year 6 transition process to high school officially started last week, giving students a glimpse into what to expect in their new educational journey. Representatives from Keebra, Southport, and Benowa High Schools visited to meet their incoming students and address questions about life at high school. For those enrolled at Southport High School, Orientation Days are scheduled for November 25th and 26th, while students heading to Benowa SHS and Keebra SHS will attend their orientation on November 26th. This is an exciting time, offering students a head start in understanding their future learning environments.
