Election Day BBQ
Our P&C will again be at school on Election Day, Saturday 26th October 2024, selling democracy sausages and drinks from 8am – 2pm (or while stocks last). We encourage all our families and community to come down to school to vote and take the opportunity to support the P&C by buying a sausage or drink while you are there. Just a reminder that this year all P&C funds raised go towards helping the school improve our playground facilities for the students.
Update on Hall Roof
We are thrilled to advise that our Hall Roof replacement project has been completed and the hall is able to be used again by the school. The new roof looks fantastic and will hopefully mean no more leaks for a very long time! This also means assemblies will restart, with our first one being next Tuesday for our Prep-Year 2 students, starting at 2pm in the hall.
Share the Dignity ‘It’s in the Bag’ Charity Drive
To help our students embrace the school value of ‘Be Considerate’, we have chosen to support the charity ‘Share the Dignity’ with their annual “It’s in the Bag” drive. This also provides us a way to support the charity that is now supporting our school with their free vending machine providing sanitary items.
From Monday 4th November until Friday 22nd November, we will be collecting items to fill bags for women and girls who may be doing it tough. It’s in the Bag is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where we encourage everyday Australians to put together bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries, to donate to someone in need for Christmas. Items that can be donated include:
· Bags (e.g. tote bags, duffel bags, hand bags, teen backpacks etc)
· Shampoo
· Conditioner
· Toothpaste
· Toothbrushes
· Soap or body wash
· Deodorant (roll-on preferred)
· Menstrual products – tampons, menstrual pads, incontinence pads, liners, period undies etc.
· Hairbrushes and hair elastics, clips etc.
· Newborn nappies
· Breast pads
· Baby soap/wash
· Disposable Nappy Bags
· Baby wipes
· Dummy
· Nappy rash cream
· Optional practical or treat items that would make someone feel special or help make life easier – e.g. small torch, note book, perfumes, scarf, face wash, magazine or novel etc)
More information about the Share the Dignity charity and It’s in the Bag drive can be found here: https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/itsinthebag
We will be having a Free Dress Day on Friday November 8th, where students will be encouraged to bring in an item to donate in exchange for the privilege of wearing ‘free dress’ to school. More information about this free dress day will be released shortly.
A collection box will be located outside of Administration for the duration of our collection drive. Last year the community support was incredible and we were able to collect enough items to make 91 bags, which was a phenomenal effort. We’re hoping our families and community are as equally supportive this year. Thank you in advance!

Prep 2025 Transition
At Bellevue, we pride ourselves on our thorough and welcoming transition to Prep. Throughout the year we have continued to welcome small groups of students from our closest Early Learning Centres to come for a fun visit to ‘big school’. GCIT came with a group of gorgeous future ‘bulldogs’ who enjoyed the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar in Prep D and then a play on our new and inviting playground. The existing Preps took such delight in supporting our visitors through this process!
We have also started our ‘Prep 2025 Meet and Greets’. We have close to 90 students coming in bubbling with excitement to learn all about their new school. Such an exciting time for our newest 'bulldogs'!
Year 1 Students Find a Reason to Make Popcorn!!
This term in science, the Year 1 students are conducting experiments to observe physical and chemical changes. 1B did an experiment that involves heating corn kernels to create popcorn! The students discussed how heat can change substances into new substances. They will be conducting a few more experiments throughout the term involving gummy bears, chocolate and fizzy drinks! Science is the best!
Year 2 Explore the World of Fairy-tales
Year 2 students are learning all about the structure of a fairy-tale. Their challenge this term is to see if they can think of an alternate creative ending for a familiar story they have read. To spark some excitement and ideas, they had a special guest come to their rooms dressed as a fairy-tale princess getting the students involved in a ‘Voice’ inspired writing session! Which fairy-tale was worth turning their chair for?! There was a lot of laughter and terrible acting! The inspiration is working, as the students are already creating some amazing story endings!

Instrumental Music News
With the end of the year fast approaching, there is lots going on with the Instrumental Music Program at Bellevue Park State School.
Applications for the 2025 Instrumental Music Program are now open. If your child has never played an instrument, and would like the opportunity to learn an instrument, this is a fantastic opportunity for your child to learn something new and do so with their friends.
Best thing about the music program, is that your child does not need any prior musical knowledge to join. The music staff will teach your child everything from how to set up and play and instrument, and to also read music.
An instrument demonstration was recently held at school. If your child was away, they can look and see what instruments are available, please see below.
If your child would like to play an instrument, please click on this link to access the document. Once completed, please return to the office or email mcaul7@eq.edu.au.

There is also an opportunity for students to audition for the South East Region Advanced Music Camp (which will be held Week 10 Term 2 2025). Further information about this camp will be available Term 1 2025.
Students in Year 6 have been given information about transition programs to High Schools in the area. If you would like any further information about this, please feel free to email me.
Please save the date for Thursday 21 November for our Instrumental Music Summer Concert. This will be a great concert and hoping to see you all there. Both the Senior and Beginner Bands will be performing pieces they have been working on this Term.

Class Learning News
Year 2
This term Year 2 are learning in English how to create a new resolution for a familiar narrative. Our first step was to identify all the success criteria that make an A standard and a C standard for our exemplars on our Learning Wall.
The students worked in pairs with highlighters and picked out all the ‘good parts’ and after a discussion placed I CAN statements on our Learning Wall.
They did a great job!
