Deputy Principal Prep to Year 2 News
Early Childhood Approach
Were you aware that there are free therapy supports available for children younger than 9? The Early Childhood Approach helps children younger than 6 with developmental delay or children younger than 9 with a disability and their families access the right support when they need it. Children younger than 6 do not need a diagnosis to get support through the Early Childhood Approach where there are concerns about their development. It is about giving children and their families the right supports to enable them, to have the best possible start in life. A child’s early years are very important. Click on the link below to learn more or call this NDIS helpline:
Prep Scientists
In Science, the Prep students have been exploring materials used to make objects and then describe their properties. They have very creatively designed and constructed puppets from collected recycled materials.
Year 2 Scientists
This term, Year 2 students have had the exciting opportunity to experience the Henny Penny Chickens. They watched in awe as the eggs hatched and have enjoyed observing the chicks grow and develop each day. This hands-on experience has been both educational and delightful for the students.
Olympic Legend!
The Year 2 students have been incredibly lucky this week, as we were privileged to have an audience with Olympic legend Brenton Rickard (aka Emily’s dad!). Brenton proudly represented Australia in swimming over two Olympic Games and multiple national and international swimming championships. The students learnt a little history about the games before getting to ask our Bellevue Olympian some questions. After our special assembly, Brenton kindly gave up his time to go to each Year 2 class and share his precious medals with the students. It was such a great experience and we are very grateful for the time he gave.

PBL Belly Point Celebration
As Semester 1 comes to a close our students have celebrated their Belly Point achievement (Gold, Diamond, Platinum) by selecting items from the PBL Menu.
This week we have enjoyed a Lunchtime Disco with DJ Mr Young, being a prep Helper with Mrs Eve or a Principal helper with Mrs Hutchins, VIP seating as part of our movie session, a pizza party, just to name a few!
Congratulations to all students on their Belly point achievement for Semester 1. It is a time to celebrate being a safe, respectful, considerate, learner. In Term 3, our points are reset and students can strive to achieve even more Belly points by following the school expectations and in particular our weekly expectations in order to achieve an even higher menu level in Semester 2.
Classroom Connections Year 3 to 6
During Week 9, our parents and carers in Year 3 to 6 joined our students in the classroom learning about the Children’s Festival in Japan and creating an origami fish alongside their child.
Thank you to the many parents who came into classrooms to enjoy this parent/child/school connection.
A special thank you to Sensei, the Tomodachi student group and our fabulous parent volunteers who supported students in the classroom with creating their Tsunagari.
We look forward to you joining us in our next child/parent classroom connection opportunity in Semester 2.
Year 4 Reflections
It was lovely to have staff from Currumbin return to reflect with our Year 4 students on their camp experience. The Year 4’s were presented with a gift of a poster to display in classroom. The students placed their paper leaf, which they had created as part of their camp experience on the fig poster as a reminder to the love and care for country we have and also as a reminder to continue to work as a team. Students also wrote a memory on their leaf. Here are some of their memories….
Semester 1 Celebrations:
As Semester 1 comes to a close our students from Prep to Year 6 came together to celebrate the semester. Students were able to dress in the comforts of their PJ’s and enjoy a movie on the BIG screen in our school hall.
We wish all our students and families a fabulous mid-year break and can’t wait to see you all back for Semester 2 as we set new goals and embrace new opportunities on offer.
Yr 5 and 6 Cyber Safety
We were fortunate to have Police Officers from PCYC deliver a Cyber Safety session to our Year 5 and 6 students on Monday 3 June.
Officer Stephen and Officer Jo shared a number of key points to students including:
- Why age restrictions were in place for various apps
- stranger danger online (being aware of what you share i.e: use smart usernames, setting to private or friends only, followers that aren’t your real friends is like leaving front door open and letting them in your house)
- online ‘friends’ and friends you know in person
- safer searching & watching: look for age restrictions, check with trusted adult
The videos and information shared helped students reassess their online approaches and ensure that they connect with trusted adults when unsure.
Parents and students can access further supports in regards to online safety and report abuse through the eSafety Commissioner website https://www.esafety.gov.au/
Finance News
Bellevue Park will be implementing QParents to our Administration processes in Term 3.
QParents is an online portal and allows parents to:
- View attendance details, behaviour information, report cards, timetables, invoices and a history of payments
- Provide digital consent - no more paper forms! This is one of the biggest positive changes. No more notes going missing or stuck to the bottom of the lunch boxes in school bags.
- Notify of absences including reasons for unexplained absences and to notify the school of future absences.
- view and pay school invoices online
- update student details including residential and postal address as well as medical conditions.
Benefits for Parents:
- Parents and care givers can simply login to QParents anytime, anywhere and view or request a change to their child's details.
- Parents and care givers can download report cards, timetables and invoices instantaneously.
- Parents can pay invoices online at any time of day.
More information will be emailed home to parents in week 1 next Term.

If you would like your child to be referred to my services, please speak with your child’s teacher who can present your case at the SSS meeting to be evaluated.
