Principal's Pen
Fire Ants
We are pleased to inform you that the recent fire ant treatment on our school grounds has been successfully completed. As a result, students can safely resume their usual lunchtime routines starting next week, including playing on the oval.
The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during the temporary adjustment to our outdoor activities. With the completion of the treatment, we can now confidently return to our regular school routines while ensuring a safe environment for all.
We would like to extend our gratitude to our school staff and maintenance team for their diligence in addressing this issue promptly and effectively.
School Uniform Reminder
Uniforms play a crucial role in our school community by fostering equality, pride, and focus. They eliminate socioeconomic disparities, instil a sense of belonging, and promote discipline, ensuring students are ready to learn. By simplifying morning routines and reinforcing our school's identity, uniforms contribute to a positive learning environment where every student can thrive academically and personally. We think our students look fantastic in their school uniform and hope they are equally as proud to wear it.
Unfortunately, we've noticed a recent decline in the adherence to our school's uniform policy among some students. We ask for your support in ensuring that your child wears the complete school uniform every day, including school jumpers and hats as required. Please note that students will be asked to remove any non-school jumpers during school hours. As a reminder, school shoes should be fully black, and socks should be white. All hair accessories should only be in the school colours of blue, white, red and black.
Your cooperation in reinforcing this expectation is greatly appreciated and contributes to the overall success of our school community. Teachers will be monitoring students’ uniforms for the next few weeks and making contact with any students consistently out of uniform. We thank you for your support and attention to this matter.
P&C Fundraisers
We are excited to announce our upcoming school fundraiser, a thrilling Trivia Night on Friday 17th May 2024. Hosted by Hot Tomato announcer and Bellevue alumni, Moyra Major, it is promising to be a fun, adults-only night out. We have food and drink vans booked, and some fantastic prizes and raffles planned for the evening. Tickets are just $30 each and can be booked on QKR. Your ticket includes a drink on arrival. Tables hold 6-8 attendees and there is a prize for the best table theme.
Also available via QKR at present are tickets for our Mother’s Day Stall, which will be held next Friday May 10th. Ticket sales close on Wednesday 8th May at 5pm. Tickets are just $8 per gift.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Parents and Citizens (P&C) association for their unwavering support and tireless efforts in organizing these initiatives. Together, we can make a significant difference in our school community. Let's join hands and make these fundraisers a resounding success!
Deputy Principal News Prep to Year 2
Belly’s Puppies
Last week, we welcomed 15 babies, toddlers and kindy students to our first Belly’s Puppies playgroup. It was so much fun (even for the kids!!). We read stories, played games, sang songs and played with our friends. To see so many future ‘bulldogs’, together with their parents, really made us smile. If you have a pre-school aged child, scan the QR code below to join in the fun. We have limited spaces, so get in early!
Enrol Now for Prep 2025!
If your child was born between 1 July to 30 June, get your enrolment in! Our first information session is coming up on the 14th May.
It’s Been Measurement Time in Prep!
Our Prep students have been having loads of fun (whilst secretly learning – shh…don’t give away our secret!) learning about measurement. Our café allowed the students to explore volume, whilst the gardens and building blocks led to an investigation around length and mass. Our sunflowers grew incredibly tall!
Stop the Press! Our Prep Students are Writing Already!
Our Prep students are now applying their phonic knowledge from reading into their writing. They are learning to identify the sounds and match those sounds to a letter choice. What a clever bunch!
ANZAC Wreaths
Whilst learning about the significance of ANZAC Day, our Year 2 students applied their ICT problem solving skills to ensure each hand was incorporated into their design. Such great collaboration.
Deputy Principal News Year 3 to Year 6
PBL News
So far this term our focus has been on being Considerate with a focus on:
* considering whether actions or words may offend other’s values, beliefs and opinions
*empathise with others and be inclusive with your games, activities and group work.
Spotlight on Learning
Earlier this term, families received an email from class teachers sharing an overview of the topics and concepts that students will be focussing on this term. This edition of the newsletter focusses on English – writing and shares with families three questions to build into conversations with your child around what they are learning about in this area:
- What are you learning in writing?
- How are you going?
- What is your writing goal?
The images below sho you an insert into some of the learning walls that students access during their learning. The information on the wall helps them to self and peer assess and set goals on what to improve into order to achieve the success criteria.
Classroom Connections Yr 3 to 6
A diary date for Year 3 to 6 parents/carers
During Week 9, we extend an invitation to our Year 3 to 6 parents to share an afternoon of Japanese culture and tradition in your child’s classroom. Our Tomodachi project team of Year 6 students are currently preparing a presentation which will share some cultural information about Children’s Day. Parents/carers will be able to join your child in their classroom to learn about Japanese culture and create an origami fish to mark this special event. This is a fabulous opportunity to ‘walk the walls’ of your child’s classroom and engage in conversation about your child’s learning this term.
Don’t forget to mark the date!
The attached flyer will be sent home later this week.
ANZAC Day
Last Thursday our School Leaders represented Bellevue Park State School at the Southport Community march and service.
It was delightful to have fellow Bellevue students, staff and their families join our School Captains in the march and also staying for the Citizens Service held on the lawns of ANZAC Park in Southport. This service provided attendees with time to think about those who have served in Australia’s armed forces, those who continue to serve, and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives. to pay our respects as part of the service
