Meet Blueberry!
We are pleased to introduce Miss Blueberry to the school community, who will hopefully be a 2nd Support Dog for our school when she is old enough, in addition to Luna. Blueberry is a miniature dachshund and just 4 months old, but has already begun coming in and meeting with small groups to encourage her socialisation skills. Some of our lucky Prep B students were Principal Helpers earlier this term and got to spend some special time with Blueberry, taking her for a walk and playing fetch. You should see more of Blueberry from mid next-year!
Attendance Reminder
Earlier this week, I sent an email home reminding parents that their children need to be completing a full school day as often a possible. While picking them up ‘just 15 minutes early’ might not seem like a lot each day, over the course of a week that is 75 minutes of lost learning time, which over a term adds up to 2.5 school days off, which is 2 whole school weeks of missed learning. This is in addition to any other sick days or holidays they might have. School begins at 8:50am and late arrivals can have a significant effect on a students’ learning and wellbeing. We encourage all students to arrive and be seated in their designated areas for supervision from 8:30am with the exception of Preps who may arrive by 8:40am. Similarly, the school day finishes at 2:55pm and we encourage you not to collect your child early unless it is absolutely unavoidable.
In addition, we encourage parents to avoid taking students out of school during term time for family holidays. While we understand it saves money and there are less crowds, it is a massive disruption and interruption to your child’s learning and not all children adapt to the time off, and subsequent return to school and routine, well. It also has a considerably impact on the teacher needing to ‘catch’ your child up with the work they’ve missed being off, especially if it is assessment time. Please try to schedule your family holidays during school holidays as much as possible. Our children are lucky to be on school holidays for an incredible 12 weeks per year.
Carpark & Kiss’N’Go Updates
Thank you all for your patience with the reduced parking available while our internal staff carpark is being renovated. We are incredibly pleased with their progress so far and can’t believe how quickly it is taking shape. At this stage it is on track to be ready for the start of the 2024 school year, weather permitting.
We have also had further conversations with Gold Coast City Council about how to safely and legally operate our Kiss’N’Go, so parents do not stop on the painted yellow line (which is illegal and can incur a fine). We are pleased to announce that during the school holidays they will remove both the current fencing and painted yellow line outside the front of the school, to increase the space where cars can legally wait for the Kiss’N’Go section. Once these works are done, we will return with further instructions about how to use the Kiss’N’Go for student arrivals and collection.
Step Up Day
In finalising this year, we are also busy preparing for 2024 to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Our Step-Up day will be on Monday 4th December, where students will find out their class, classroom location and teacher for 2024. More information about this day will follow soon. Please remember that while we will try to keep students in these classes, some minor changes may need to occur, and classes will not be finalised until Week 4 in Term 1 next year. If you feel your child may need some additional support with transitioning for any reason, please speak to your child’s current classroom teacher as soon as possible.

Prep Experience Morning
We are so excited to welcome all of our Preps for 2024. They had an amazing time coming into their big school for a small taster of school life. We really value the time and energy that goes into this thorough process to ensure that our new Bellevue Bulldogs have the best possible start to Prep.
Age-Appropriate Pedagogies in the Early Years
Here at Bellevue, we focus in early years on teaching on utilising Age-Appropriate Pedagogies.
This means we draw from a wide range of research-based teaching and learning techniques which engage our students in their learning. Some teaching moments require explicit instruction, whilst sometimes we can get the best results from being playful and creative. Last week in Year 2, the teachers planned mathematical activities which encouraged the students to be creative and collaborative. The students were challenged to find a way to put all the animals into pens, with the same number in each pen. The students loved it and were highly engaged during this activity. Who knew mathematics could be so much fun?!
Another example of Age-Appropriate Pedagogies at work has been in Prep. This term the students have been learning about toys that move through purposefully planned play and inquiry activities. Making Pom Pom Poppers to explore the forces of push and pull was a big hit!

STEM Excellence Incursion
Last week the STEM Excellence students enjoyed a virtual science experience. Students enjoyed accessing a VR headset to experience the stages of getting to the Moon, from Mission Control, to lift off and walking on the Moon’s surface. The conversation and excitement within the room was testament to the fabulous learning opportunity that was created through this opportunity. Thanks to Mr Berry-Walker for organising this opportunity for as part of the STEM Excellence program.
PBL News
The end of semester is a time to celebrate with all students their positive behaviour for learning. This semester, on Monday 27th November, we will come together as sectors to enjoy a comedy circus stunt show in the school hall.
The Comedy Circus Stunt Show is an action packed incursion performance that features high skills circus, clowning, magic and a range of extraordinary stunts.
For over 20 years this highly versatile performer has been entertaining audiences, young and old, with his finely tuned physical circus tricks, incredible magic and side-splitting stand-up comedy.
We are looking forward to enjoying this celebration with all students.

Interschool Sport – Yrs 5 & 6 – North Kirra Beach
We are delighted to share the exciting news of our recent participation in the Interschool Beach Sports event, where Bellevue Park athletes showcased their talent and sportsmanship in an array of thrilling water and beach activities.
The event, held at the picturesque North Kirra Beach, brought together schools from across the district for a day filled with fun, sun, and friendly competition. Our students demonstrated not only their athletic prowess but also the values of teamwork, cooperation and respect.
On the day students were involved in a number activities including beach volleyball, cricket, touch football and AFL.
We extend our appreciation to the organizers, volunteers and all who contributed to making this event a success. The Interschool Beach Sports Extravaganza not only allowed our students to showcase their sporting abilities but also provided a platform for fostering a sense of community and healthy competition.
Congratulations to all our young athletes for their outstanding efforts and sportsmanship. We look forward to more opportunities for our students to shine in both individual and team sports in the future.
Congratulations to Tyler and Rio who competed in a Triathalon at Noosa Heads earlier this month.
Taona has been selected for the Tennis Australia’s Super 10’s National camp.
