Newsletter – Term 3 Week 10 2023 – Principal’s Pen
Another term is over and we edge closer to completing another school year. We wish all our Bellevue families a very relaxing school holiday break, and hope you have the chance to spend some time together recharging everyone’s batteries!
Term 3 Student-Led Conferences
We were thrilled with how many families took the opportunity this week to attend our ‘Student-Led Conferences’, to hear first hand from your own children how they are progressing with their learning this year. We had over 550 interviews held, which was our biggest parental involvement ever. There was an incredibly positive feeling in the air during the event, and lots of smiles on faces. We hope you enjoyed this new format of parent-teacher interviews. One of our parents sent the following message to their child’s teacher:
Re: So proud!!!! Student Led Conferences
Dear Mrs Diamond,
Thank you for the opportunity to visit the class yesterday. I felt it was really well
organised and A was so happy to talk me through her work. I found it informative
and would like to see the format continue. Regards, N.
Moving forward, we will review this format of interview as a possibility of continuing in Semester 2 each year. The format of Semester 1 interviews will not change, and will remain as a 10-minute, one-on-one meeting with your child’s teacher. As always, we welcome feedback from our parent community and appreciate you taking a few moments to give your thoughts on the event here: https://forms.office.com/r/vjxHzSLacR
We’d also like to thank our P&C volunteers for running the hugely successful sausage sizzle. I know there were a lot of appreciative parents who could fill those hungry, straight-after-school tummies!
Term 4 Belly Spirit Award Winners
This week we again acknowledged our ‘Belly Spirit Award’ winners with a delicious morning tea with the Principal and Deputy Principals. Our winners also got to spend some special one-on-one time with Belly as well. This term’s winners were nominated by their classroom teacher consistently exemplifying and following our 4 school values:
- I am Safe
- I am Considerate
- I am Respectful
- I am a Learner
We’d like to congratulate all our Term 3 winners and thank them for being such incredible role models for their peers.

Morning Routine Reminder
Just a friendly reminder that students are not supervised before school until 8.30am (unless of course they have a rehearsal or club). If you have an emergency and need to drop just a few minutes early, please can you take your child to the Undercover Tuckshop Area? If your child needs regular before school care, please enrol them into a before school care provider. Play on the oval starts at 8.30am.
Amazing Writing in Prep
We are so proud of our Prep students, all of the ground work around learning their sounds and letters is really paying off. The progress in their writing skills has been quite extraordinary, as I am sure you saw at the Student Led Conferences this week. Here is just a small sample of our incredible writes.
More Amazing Writing in Year 1
This term, Year 1 have been learning about Minibeasts through an exciting unit where students selected an insect to study and learn about their appearance, habitat, diet, classification and interesting facts. Throughout the term, the students produced an information report, complete with a digital diagram using the SeeSaw app, labelling different body parts of their insect. To showcase what they learnt, students then created a detailed habitat in class for their insect.
At the end of the unit, the students attended a Bugs Ed show where they got to look at (and even hold!) some insects. This was a real highlight to an amazing unit, which inspired some incredible writing.
Year 2 Fathers’ Day Afternoon
On the 25th August Year 2 students invited their dads to school for a board game making afternoon. Lots of creativity, team work and fun was had by all. Thanks dads we loved having you in the classroom!
