Newsletter – Term 4 Week 7 – Principal’s Pen
As we race through this last term of 2022, we continue to be impressed at the resilience and enthusiasm of our students. It has been an incredibly busy term with regular interruptions to class time including swimming lessons, health week, Life Education sessions, and end of year concerts. In addition, students are finalising their year of learning and undertaking end of year assessments. Remember that all report cards will be emailed in week 10 so please ensure your email address is current on our files. If you have any questions or would like to check this, please see our administration staff who can check for you.
Step-Up Day
In finalising this year, we are also busy preparing for 2023 to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Our Step-Up day will be on Monday 5 December, where students will find out their class, classroom location and teacher for 2023. More information about this day will follow soon. Please remember that while we will try to keep students in these classes, some minor changes may need to occur, and classes will not be finalised until Week 4 in Term 1 next year. If you feel your child may need some additional support with transitioning for any reason, please speak to your child’s current classroom teacher as soon as possible.
2023 School Captains
Recently our year 5 students went through the nomination and selection process for our School Captain positions for 2023. We were thrilled to see a total of 58 students nominate for the 20 Captain roles we offer each year. It was an extremely tough process and we are very proud of all our year 5 students who stepped up and put themselves out there in applying. A massive congratulations must go to our successful candidates, pictured below. We look forward to working together with you next year to make 2023 amazing!

Secondary Partnerships – preparing for High School
This week saw our Year 5 cohort head over to Keebra Park SHS for a morning of fun activities as an introduction to life at High School. Though this cohort of students still have another full year of Primary school in front of them, the enrolment process for High School will commence early next year with applications for Excellence Programs in our cluster secondary schools due early Term 1.
The morning of activities was engaging and varied, with students having the opportunity to make their own cookies in the Home Economics facilities, learn some new dance moves and put together a short dance, learn and record a short song, and develop their awareness of e-gaming safely and in teams. The staff and student leaders at Keebra Park were amazing hosts – some being past students of Bellevue Park! – and our students conducted themselves with pride and enthusiasm. We are hoping to organise another visit next year as these students are closer to heading to High School.

Summer Concert – Strings and Instrumental Music Concert
What a treat to have all our talented musicians perform this week for the Summer Concert! Congratulations to Mrs Larmor and Ms Bowen for their hard work and coordination of the different ensembles and the instrumental band. Also, a huge congratulations to the students who performed. From our beginner players to our more experienced musicians, it was a delight to see the growth in their skills and confidence in performing to a live audience. Thank you to our wonderful families who help with the many hours of rehearsal to support our students to achieve to the level of skill that we witnessed this week.
On a sad note, we will be sorry to see Ms Bowen leave us at the end of this year as she embarks on a new adventure, accepting a music teaching position in North Queensland. We will miss her!

Ready, steady, race!
During design technology lessons, the Year 3 students have been busy designing, making and evaluating their own wind-powered vehicles made from recycled materials. There were many highly effective vehicles on display at the annual 'Bellevue Five Metre' race last Friday, to find the fastest vehicle of the year. Congratulations to all of our students for their amazing efforts and to Harley, Zane and Pippen, Oliver and Ryan, who took out 1st to 4th place, respectively.

The Amazing Race!
Forget the Melbourne Cup, the main race of the year is The Bellevue Park SS Amazing Race! The kids had an absolute ball watching the staff charge around the school, desperately trying to solve riddles and get to the finish line! Congratulations to Miss Cannon and Miss Grosskreutz who took out the gold medal this year!

Prep Experience Morning
We are so excited to welcome all of our Preps for 2023. They had an amazing time coming into their big school for a small taster of school life. Next year, we will have five Prep Classrooms in our new re-vamped Prep Village. We are hoping that most of the building work will be completed in Term 1 2023. The Preps will enjoy a much larger playground and an additional classroom in the village. Lucky kids!

On the weekend of 28-30 October Nixon competed in the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival in Sunshine Coast for his Representative Rugby Union team, the Queensland Kiwis.
He played full games for every game and was his team’s goal kicker. They played 6 games and then made it to the playoffs. In the semi finals they won a tough game to meet Samoa, where they lost 7-0. Although they lost, it was an exceptional result.

Geoffrey and Summer at the TSS Aquatic Transition Meet.
Both train hard and the hard work is paying off for them as they both improve and grow. Both have a positive culture and lead team cheering for each other and others within their team. They both show the true nature of Bellevue Park State School’s culture and key traits.
Both kids train under BE Coaching at the Southport Olympic Pool, same coaches that train your Alumni Chelsea Hodges.
The award below is what these two kids achieve and as noted from Swimming Australia “Hard work Dedication”.
