Term 4 Week 3
Principal's Pen - Robyn Hutchins
We have had a wonderful start to Term 4, kicking off a very busy term with our popular swimming lessons for students in years 1-6. Participation rates have been exceptionally high and the students seem to be thoroughly enjoying them. There is a lot going on this term including Life Education lessons, our annual Swimming Carnival, Beach Gala Sports Day and our Movie Melodies evening. It’s also hard to believe that this is our last term with our Year 6 students, who have their own busy term ahead with High School transition days, Graduation and Year 6 Fun Day. With so much going on, the end of the school year will be here before we know it!
It’s in the Bag – Charity collection:
To help our students embrace the school value of ‘Be Considerate’, we have chosen to support the charity ‘Share the Dignity’ with their annual “It’s in the Bag” drive.
From Monday 24 October until Friday 18 November, we will be collecting items to fill bags for women and girls who may be doing it tough. It’s in the Bag is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where we encourage everyday Australians to put together bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries, to donate to someone in need for Christmas. Items that can be donated include:
· Bags (e.g. tote bags, duffel bags, hand bags, teen backpacks etc)
· Shampoo
· Conditioner
· Toothpaste
· Toothbrushes
· Soap or body wash
· Deodorant (roll-on preferred)
· Menstrual products – tampons, menstrual pads, incontinence pads, liners, period undies etc.
· Hairbrushes and hair elastics, clips etc.
· Newborn nappies
· Breast pads
· Baby soap/wash
· Disposable Nappy Bags
· Baby wipes
· Dummy
· Nappy rash cream
· Optional practical or treat items that would make someone feel special or help make life easier – e.g. small torch, note book, perfumes, scarf, face wash, magazine or novel etc)
More information about the Share the Dignity charity and It’s in the Bag drive can be found here: https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/itsinthebag
A collection box will be located outside of Administration for the duration of our collection drive. We hope to be able to pack at least 10 bags to donate on behalf of Bellevue Park State School. Thank you in advance for your support.
Safety for Queensland School Zones
Upcoming trial of new Roadways Behaviour Monitoring System in selected Queensland school zones
In a world-first road safety initiative, new speed camera technology will soon target speeding drivers at selected school zones across Queensland.
Everyone has a role in keeping our roads safe. It is imperative drivers reduce their speed to the signed 40 km/h speed limit and be aware of activity by students on or near the road.
Speed cameras will only operate during school zone times at the selected schools.
Parents, and carers dropping off or picking up students are urged to comply with school zone speed limits. Those who slow down will not be penalised.

This occasion also provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our students with the presentation of several awards.
As we reflect on the year, and start to consider the outstanding achievements of the 2022 Year 6 cohort, we cannot be prouder of the group of young people we will be sending on to High School.
