LEARNING WALLS @BPSS:
Your child may be coming home talking about their classroom Learning Wall. Over the last two years, all classrooms have been incorporating what is called a Learning Wall to support their English – and sometimes other subjects – learning in class. These walls provide our students with visual cues, scaffolds and the learning expectations for the current unit of work, as they work through their learning activities. As we grow in our use of these Learning Walls, students are gaining more ownership of their learning and are able to talk about their learning to a higher level. They are becoming increasingly able to co-construct elements of the learning wall, as well as talk about the elements they find the most useful to assist them leading up to their assessment tasks.
Parents, as our students’ “first teachers”, you are hugely influential in your child’s learning. I’m sure we’ve all had times when we’ve asked our children “How was your day?”, only to be told “fine” or “good”. If this is the typical response you receive from your children, you may like to try asking these five questions to create informative conversations with your child(ren): -
1. What did you learn today?
2. How did you go with that?
3. What did you do if you didn’t understand?
4. How can you improve on your learning?
5. What are you most proud of?
You may use all or some of these questions in your conversations! The focus is to give you some prompts, if your child usually doesn’t share much about their learning each day, and just have fun talking with them.
CELEBRATING LEARNING:
The uniqueness and strength of the programs on offer at Bellevue was truly evident at this week’s final assembly for the Senior classes. We shared the following awards:
. Principal’s Awards;

. We presented Mr Young and the PnC President, Mr Sala, certificates for their contribution to the recent Book Character Parade; and
. The Inspirators Dance Group performed on stage.
This truly represents the variety and extent of our student talents and abilities. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff and families for your amazing support for our students to be involved in so many exciting experiences

Throughout the year Coolaroo have been learning about monochromatic art. This is artwork is created using tints and tones of the same colour. Pictured below are our masterpieces of a moonlight silhouette of an old tree standing still in the night. Students did all their own colour mixing and really enjoyed creating their own masterpiece.
