Trivia Night
We are excited to announce our upcoming school fundraiser, a thrilling Trivia Night on Friday 23rd May 2025. Hosted by Hot Tomato announcer and Bellevue alumni, Moyra Major, it is promising to be a fun, adults-only night out. We have food and drink vans booked, and some fantastic prizes and raffles planned for the evening. Tickets are just $30 each and can be booked on QKR. Your ticket includes a drink on arrival. Tables hold 6-8 attendees and there is a prize for the best table theme.
Don’t let not having a team stop you from joining in the fun! We encourage singles and couples to come along and bring table decorations with you. You can join others on the night to make up a table and meet some new friends along the way!

Celebrating Our School Community's Outstanding Attendance
We are thrilled to announce that our school community is maintaining an impressive attendance rate of 94.4%! This remarkable accomplishment reflects the dedication and commitment of our students and families. A special congratulations to our Prep and Year 3 students, who are leading the way with attendance rates exceeding 95%!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all parents and carers who have diligently completed exemption forms for absences exceeding 10 consecutive school days. Your cooperation ensures that we maintain accurate records and comply with educational guidelines.
Research consistently shows that regular school attendance is crucial for students' academic success and social development. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform better academically, develop positive relationships with peers and teachers, and experience improved emotional well-being.
We would also like to remind everyone of the importance of full school days. Early pick-ups should be reserved for essential appointments or emergencies. Regularly removing students early, especially to avoid traffic, can disrupt their learning experience and impact their educational progress.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering an environment where every student can thrive.

Bikes & Scooters on school grounds
For the safety of all students and staff, we kindly remind everyone that bicycles and scooters should not be ridden on school grounds. This policy applies to all individuals—students, staff, and visitors alike. Walking or pushing your bike or scooter while on school property ensures the safety of all. Please dismount and walk your bike or scooter when entering or leaving the school grounds. Use the designated bike racks to park your bicycle or scooter, and ensure they are locked securely to prevent theft. Queensland law requires all minors to wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet when riding. Please ensure your child complies with this regulation. We appreciate your cooperation in helping maintain a safe environment for all members of our school community.

After School Play
We are proud that our school has a friendly community atmosphere and this is something we encourage. It is lovely to see parents interacting for a quick chat at pick up time. Recently, however, we have noticed some students are staying and playing after home time in and around school grounds unsupervised. This is not safe and has caused some of our equipment to get broken and children to get hurt. Teachers are not responsible for childcare after school. Please can I ask that no student is left unsupervised and that children remain away from teacher resources, including our Prep Obstacle Course.
We have also noticed that children have been left unsupervised over at the netball courts. This space is open to the public and is not safe for unsupervised play. When a child is injured (this happens frequently), it can be traumatising for a child when they do not have a parent or carer present to support them. Thank you so much for your co-operation in working together to keep our students safe.
Prep Waterways
During outdoor learning time the Prep children have been playing with the beautiful wooden waterways system to construct their own watercourses in our creek bed. These materials encourage the children to investigate and experiment, build problem solving skills while promoting collaborative play. The waterways materials were purchased with funds raised from last year's Prep Tea Towel Art Project fundraiser.
We are looking forward to running the Tea Towel Fundraiser for Prep families again this year, we will keep you posted!

Year 1 Bug Education
Year 1 students had a fantastic time engaging in the Bug Education incursion this week. They learned fascinating facts about insects and had the opportunity to hold a stick insect, as well as observe other live insects up close. This hands-on experience was a great way to kick off our bug unit for the term and sparked lots of curiosity and excitement for what's to come!

PBL News
So far this term our focus has been on being:
Upcoming PB Expectation and Respectful Relationships
As part of our commitment to Bellevue’s school expectations “ I am safe, I am respectful and I am a learner’, we support students by teaching a PBL focus each week. We identify the PBL focus based on the behaviours we are observing at school. Being a primary school, from time-to-time students need reminders of ‘Keep hands, feet and body to self’.
This term we will be updating our PBL lesson in this area to reflect changes to Australian Curriculum in the area of Respectful Relationships. We will now include a PBL lesson which includes ‘Keep hands, feet and body to self in relation to private areas’. This lesson will include the My Body Safety Rules from the National Office for Child Safety. As part of this lesson, and aligned with the Respect Relationships Curriculum, students will also be taught about body privacy and to identify the anatomical names for private body parts. For your reference, the resources we will be using in these lessons are on the right.
By teaching respectful relationships we are empowering our students to develop the skills they need to build positive friendships and to stay safe.

Spotlight on Learning
By mid-Week 4 all families should have received an email from their child’s class teachers sharing an overview of the topics and concepts that students will be focussing on this term. This edition of the newsletter focusses on English – writing and shares with families three questions to build into conversations with your child around what they are learning about in this area:
- What are you learning in writing?
- How are you going?
- What is your writing goal?
The images below show you an insight into some of the learning walls that students access during their learning. The information on the wall helps them to self and peer assess and set goals on what to improve into order to achieve the success criteria.

ANZAC Day
Last Friday to make our respects on ANZAC day over 15 students including our Student Captains gathered outside the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre ready to represent at the Southport community march.
Unfortunately, the march and 9am service was cancelled however our student representatives choose to walk down to the ANZAC Park Memorial gates and lay our wreaths. This moment provided our students and families with a moment to think about those who have served in Australia’s armed forces, those who continue to serve, and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives.

Inclusion News
Dear Families,
We would like to inform you of an important change regarding NDIS-funded therapy sessions at school. After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision that from Semester Two 2025, therapy sessions delivered by external NDIS providers will no longer take place during school hours, on school grounds.
We understand that these sessions are valuable, and we know that many families have worked hard to coordinate support for their children. This decision wasn’t made lightly. As a school, our core responsibility is to ensure that every student is fully engaged in their learning, participating in the classroom, and accessing the full curriculum alongside their peers.
We’ve found that regular withdrawal from class for therapy or therapists supporting in class —while well-intentioned— can disrupt learning routines and reduce opportunities for students to engage fully with their peers and classroom programs. We want to make sure all students are given every chance to succeed academically and socially throughout the school day. Our priority is always to support student learning and inclusion in the most meaningful way possible.
This change is only for external NDIS providers and does not impact any school-based support currently being provided by our staff or specialist programs that are part of our inclusive practices. We will continue to work closely with you and your child’s NDIS team to ensure a strong partnership and smooth coordination of services outside of school hours.
Access to school grounds by NDIS providers is managed in line with the Department of Education’s NDIS Provider Access to State Schools Procedure, which outlines the conditions under which services may be approved during school hours
Please refer to the link below for further information: https://ppr.qed.qld.gov.au/pp/national-disability-insurance-scheme-ndis-provider-access-to-state-schools-policy
Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership.
